On any trip, we take there is usually a type of place that we favour the most.
In fact, we try to visit what attracts us, or the places we identify with.
One of those places that appeal to many is the beach. As we say, it pleases the Greeks and Trojans.
On the other hand, let’s be honest with ourselves, choosing a good beach, be it for some type of leisure or just to enjoy the view and relate to nature, is not so easy. Usually, the beaches are nice, but not all have something special that makes us come back just to visit that place again.
I know some beaches that resemble movie scenes, unimaginable places that, when we get there, we think, “how have I never visited this place before?
What a unique place!” From that moment, that place becomes part of our lives. No matter how long we stay away, it seems that the environment, the nature of the place is renewed when we find it again.
This is the feeling I have for Cascais beaches. I usually go back there to find myself. To enjoy hours of peace, leisure and relaxation.
This adventure actually begins at the Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon. I recommend that you use comboios (trains that travel along the edge of greater Lisbon). The trip takes approximately 50 minutes, but is worth every second.
The train meanders the beaches towards Cascais with grace. The journey allows for ample opportunity to take several photos along the way.
Cascais is charming, nothing better than walking around the city with family and making a stop at a great restaurant.
Restaurants
Sushi Design Restaurant in the historic center of Cascais with a spectacular sea view!
The 5-star restaurant attracts many foreign customers, has great reviews for the good food served and the location is very attractive.
For those who prefer seafood, Baía do Peixe is an expert!
With a vast seafood menu, you can enjoy a glass of amazing white wine and enjoy the beach in the center of Cascais.
And for those who like to get out of the center a little, we can count on Furnas do Guincho!
Located on one of the most famous beaches in the area, the restaurant attracts lovers of sea food! Nothing better than hearing the noise of the waves during a delicious meal!
WONDERFUL VIEWS
Set in the north coast of Lisbon, this set of beaches seem to belong, in some points, to the Caribbean.
It is a paradise right here on the third planet of our small solar system. In front of you will be the vast Atlantic Ocean, deep blue, beautiful and mesmerizing.
There you will realize that that this enchanting place is not limited to just swimming, sailing or walking the dog.
You will find that something attracts you deeply, then it will be too late. Like me, you will fall in love with Cascais.
You’ll realise over time that you’ll find excuses to go back. The energy that emanates from that small piece of nature positively affects you, enveloping you in something bigger.
The feeling is of incredible strength. Hard to explain. It is a place that can accommodate all, from friends who go fishing to families and couples.
If you are in Europe or indeed plan to be and want to visit, in my opinion, the best Lusitanian beaches, you must come to Cascais. It is amazing how this beach brings together such natural diversity.
But it doesn’t end there, human intervention in the form of buildings contributes to the local beauty. I believe it is one of the places where nature and architectural constructions are most harmonious.
Along the way, you can find both new buildings as well as old and quaint castles that present us with a great setting for photos.
There are ample areas for all to swim including some dedicated safe “pools” for children and those with reduced mobility.

Tip on how to get in Cascais from Lisbon
After visiting Cascais several times in a few months, I created a simple itinerary that I’d like to share with you.
Generally, I leave the train at São João station. It is 4 stations before the last station, Cascais.
From there, I go on foot, enjoying the view.
The path is fabulous and I can enjoy my visit a little more. This walk lasts approximately one hour, from the São João station to the monument of Dom Pedro I near the marina, and provides another opportunity to take photos, swim, fish or tan.
Don’t forget that Portugal is the sunniest country in Europe. Excellent “excuse” to come here to enjoy your vacation.
